This past month has been a crazy, eventful, “I don’t know where the month went,” kind of month. With being pulled in so many directions it was hard for me to know where to go, what to do and how to focus on the things I set out to do at the onset of the year.

I realized I cannot be the only person with this problem!

How many of you have really great ideas or goals you began working towards only to realize you didn’t follow through because this or that happened?

We live in a day in age where we get pulled in hundreds of crazy directions. The dilemma this creates is we have a lot of things we start but don’t finish or forget to follow up on.

So how do you stay laser focused on the goals you create?

Well for starters, it’s not easy! But here are a few strategies that may help along the way!

1. Give yourself a break

No one has an endless amount of hours in the day. There will always be “never enough time”. And things come up!

It is okay. Instead of beating yourself up when things go sideways, forgive yourself for not being superhuman and move forward.

2. Plan for interruptions

Now of course none of us can see the future and what it holds. Life is full of unexpected interruptions you can be sure will happen.

If you hold an expectation that there will not be at least one singular disturbance in your plan, you are setting yourself up. So expect the unexpected!

Give yourself some lead way in advance for setbacks. Just don’t let the setbacks hold you back.

3. Identify time suckers

When I tried to realize where my time went this past month, I realized quickly there were some time suckers in my life.

Whether it be social media checking or binge-watching Netflix, there were tons of things sucking up my time. And they were distracting me from my goals.

Don’t get me wrong, we all need mindless distractions every once and a while, but it’s all about moderation.

So what is sucking your time away? Remember, we only get one life!

4. Harness the power of intentionality

I remember once hearing “the road to hell is paved with good intentions”. Kind of harsh, I know, but there is some truth to that. Good intentions aren’t enough, we need to BE INTENTIONAL. What’s the difference between intention and intentional?

Intention: a thing intended; an aim or plan

Intentional: done on purpose; deliberate

We can’t just have an aim or a goal. We have to find a way to do something on purpose. And guess what? Many times we aren’t going to “feel” like it. However, the more we do things intentionally, without excuse, whether it be a daily action or habit we create, the closer we can get to our intention.

The struggle is real, but we can get through the struggle together to reach our desired vision for our life.
